Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which deliver rehab to deal with both mental health and addiction issues simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is an extremely common circumstance for individuals involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as people with mental health problems often medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to experience some form of temporary relief from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help men and women through a comprehensive rehabilitation plan all targeted at restoring and stabilizing mental, emotional and physical health while dealing with drug abuse problems. Offering a secure setting is essential to ensure that dual diagnosis clients can be at ease and remain free from distraction from things that may cut across their program and advancement. Rehab counselors will work to identify environmental issues in the client's life such as negative relationships or any other things which should be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and sober t once they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehabilitation which will help them develop more efficient coping methods so that they are able to better handle life situations more effectively if they leave dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to alcohol and drugs as an inferior option.
