TRICARE covers numerous treatment services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, along with rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will of course be asked to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehab service, which may be organized using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility is the favored rehabilitation choice, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in this particular center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits about how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which is often very useful, as it can certainly help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery.
