Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small number of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective treatment option.
