A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability in their lives and also have counsel and support within reach 24/7. People who reside inside a group home may be getting involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some point live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a practical temporary option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together.
