LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the particular needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and considered socially unwanted. This may be a very difficult or painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of substance abuse to alleviate this pain. Someone who is LGBT might not exactly feel at ease in a conventional treatment facility amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which can be free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which have to be resolved so that they can get better. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in the event their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and is also an example of an issue that would be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
