LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially depraved. This may be a very difficult and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug abuse to alleviate this pain. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel at ease within a traditional rehabilitation center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which must be resolved so that they can get well. Treatment counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely common trigger for substance abuse, and is also an example of something will be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and build confidence to be able to lead a healthy life free of drugs and alcohol.
